End Time Scavenger
An environment designed for an independent game project of mine exploring a painterly stylized approach. A particular focus has been placed on the storytelling aspect of the environment, exploring the narrative of an oriental-themed post-apocalyptic world covered in water. The scene depicts a moment of relaxation during a scavenging trip at a fragment of an abandoned town, in a world on the verge of being completely scattered and submerged. The architecture of the town is inspired by Western Chinese fishing towns, and the style/mood is inspired by the works of Hayao Miyazaki.
Town Center: The lower half of the town is partially submerged underwater and covered in overgrowth. The tattered lanterns swinging in the wind provide us a glimpse of the once prosperous and crowded streets of this town.
Entrance: The edge of the submerged town, violently torn off by seismic activity, now serves as a convenient port for our scavenger.
Upper level: The upper level of the town, this area provides a precious dry spot allowing the scavenger a moment of rest in her journey
The scavenger: The scavenger sits atop a low roof. In her rarely-found moment of relaxation, she is taking in the unique beauty the apocalypse has brought to the world while casually kicking her feet.
